A Darker Shade of Gray
Do I feel like writing?
No, not particularly. But at the urging of various e-mails and comments....I'm here. A little dazed and out of focus...but here nonetheless.
I guess no one ever said that life was going to be easy but what they failed to mention was that it was going to be filled with bumps and bruises, stubbed toes, paper cuts, headaches, curse words and water retention. Not to mention sorry ex-boyfriends, worthless former friends, clinically insane neighbors and demonically possessed employees.
I guess it's just one of those minor details that parents forget to let us in on. Advice that should have been sandwiched in sometime between the "sex talk" and the "proper use of credit cards ."

awwwwwww, hugs for Linny!!!!!!! Come visit me. I'll make you not blue anymore. :D
OHHH we have "the proper use of credit card" talk in canada...we pay close attention. Everyone i know, over 20 has phenomenal credit!!
Sometimes, all the bumping along, scraped knees and tears teach us to be stronger, and not to let those little things hurt our feelings as much. We become immune to them, and realize that they build character, and teach us that whatever doesnt kill us, only makes us stronger.
Hang in there buddy...
I'd like to hear about the clinically insane neighbors :)
Yeah, write about the crazy Snells that live in Snellsville.
Oh Linny......I've felt the same way all week.
If you can do what I'm getting ready to do on Monday, I highly recommend it. And it's only one word.
Vacation.
ooo... dark...
well dark writing for linny.
i think this was your sexiest post yet.
:)
I hope you start to feel better Linny! Something MUST be in the air. This has been an off week for everyone I know!
Big apologies for the cliched: Weigh it up against all that is great :-)
Feel better, xo
Thank goodness I'm not the only one whose had a "dodgy" week!!! Linny, at least you got the sex / credit card talk :) I love your description of your employees - classic.
I sure hope I don't fall in the "worthless former friends" category!!! I'm a dedicated reader and SOMEONE has not returned any of my emails. Look, I'm already getting defensive :) Guess who!
The baby in the pic looks pissed!!
:}
I try to leave all that out too, I guess I am trying to shield Tyler from all that...
I know it's inevitable..
But if he can live for a time without knowing the insanity, maybe it will help him in the long run.
Adarya?
I haven't received any emails that I haven't responded to. Which address did you send them too?
Perhaps the weekend will bring some much need relief from "life". {{hugs}}
Most of the time I am optomistic about life. At this moment in my life I would just like to have a very large break from everything. I sometimes wish I was a kid again so everything was so easy. But, I love my life and I just wish that sometimes I could have a break from it. I just try to look at the little things that help keep me going to get me through the day. So try to remember the good things and sometimes it will wash out the annoyances of everyday life.
I think you should bitch about the exs, neighbours and employees.
At any rate...no Adarya...I was not referring to you.
Paper cuts and water retention... two of my favorite worst things! Parents couldn't possibly tell you about all of that stuff - and besides, even if they did we couldn't full appreciate them until we experienced each one for ourselves :-)
I think I skipped the day when they taught all that crap at school ...
Cheer up Linny! Or perhaps go away for a short break to unwind.
What the heck is going on with you lately? Just keep writing. It's like driving at night without your headlights. You may crash a few times along the way, but eventually you'll find the road. Ok, I guesss you shouldn't write just because we want you to. Take care of yourself and write when it makes you happy.
Phil...at this point it's not about not having anything to write.
It's that I'm having a shitty ass week and haven't felt like writing.
Hopefully things will be better soon. We'll see.
I do hope everything gets better soon.
I'm sort of in the same kind of place right now, so at least you're not alone!
Well Linny, I'm truly sorry for your bad week. One thing I'm certain of in this life is that everything turns on a dime when you least expect it. I'm going to hope that it turns positive for you. That happens too, you know.
Sometimes we win even when we think we were losing. (happened to me just last week - boring details)
So, rest assured that the givers of bad karma will get their own and you'll probably get to watch them get it.
You're right about the bumps and bruises, stubbed toes, paper cuts, headaches, curse words, water retention, sorry ex-boyfriends, worthless former friends, clinically insane neighbors and demonically possessed employees. You're right that it's not part of the growing up experience.
There's a perfect book to write. Better than any Judy Blume out there. Go write a book for preteens. Title it "Life's Gonna Suck." Then cash in on the all the evil schmucks. That'll show 'em.
(((((((((HUGS))))))))))))
Things always work out in the end. Really..they do.
On the upside, that is a priceless picture of Colby :)
Good stuff
parents have the last laugh.
I just wished they would have told me the whole "young at heart" motto is a complete lie. Your body falls to pieces regaurdless of how damn chipper you are about it.
Just squeeze that big luminous exercise ball until you feel better, Linny!
