The Last of a Kind
I am a member of an ever dwindling Order. Passion courses through our veins, travels in our tears, and dances in our laughter.
We are...true romantics.
There are no robes, no beads, no bald heads.
No. We daydream. Eyes staring off into the distance, a silly smile curving the corner of our lips....completely oblivious to the outside world.
It's like having a film playing in my head. I buy a ticket and snuggle down in my chair as the soft hum of the projector, fills the theater.
The lights dim and here, my movie begins to play...
A beautiful night. The sky is clear and the moon casts a warm glow on the dirt road ahead. He pulls the car off to the side of the road, squeezing my hand reassuringly as I raise my eyebrows in question. Without a word he walks around and opens my door. I take his oustretched hand...entwining our fingers as he leads me back to the road. Our only company is the humming of the car engine and the warmth of the lights.
A strong arm slips around my waist as music begins to play....Mel Carter's rich voice croons "Hug Me, Kiss Me, Thrill Me."
They say be sensible with your new love
Don't be fooled thinking this is the last you'll find
But they've never stood in the dark with you love
When you take me in your arms
And drive me slowly out of my mind...

Is that any relation to the song from Rocky Horror Picture Show, Screw Me, Chew Me, Fulfill Me?
LOL. No..but that one sounds catchy too. :0)
I'm a member too!!!!
Though I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out waiting for my knight in shining armor....
I'm a card carrying member of that group - ahhhh the dying breed remains dyingless or something like that.
Beautiful post Linny. Even for those of us that know the armor he wears has some bumps and bruises.
;-0
I don't think i will ever belong to that club. I however, love the Rocky Horror Picture Show :)
(pssst - I'm a member too, but don't tell anyone)
Excellent post, Linny, particularly "Passion courses through our veins, travels in our tears, and dances in our laughter."
nothing wrong with being romantic or wanting a little romance in your life, i'm the same
Hi Linny, how have you been?
Finally got my internet connection back again...
Computers!! (throws my hands up in exsperation)
I used to be head captain of that group. And then I went and got married :) While I wouldn't trade for my marriage, it does have a way of taking some of the romance out of love...
My dear Linny, this is one of your best post ever. I love it. Beautiful. Well-written. Great all around.
And I'm a romantic too. I don't like that I am...but it's not so bad sometimes.
Definitely agree about the movie always playing...I do that too, and I love it, but then again, life can grow quite pale in comparison
Happy Thursday!
Hope you’re well,
~ Ash
dang girl, that was beautiful.
I feel the same way. So different for people like us to have such an acute sense of passion, compassion, love, desire, romance, and all else that goes with it.
Last night we rented Just like Heaven with reese witherspoon and gosh I cant think of the guys name but he's cute. I cried. My husband peeked over my shoulder bc he knew I would be n I just confirmed with a smile and tears running down my face.....
I used to be a romantic. Now I'm beginning to think it is a figment f my imagination.
Great visualization.
I dont know what that post was about....but I think you're trying to tell me that you're in a cult...that either worships "Batman"...or "U2"
"hold me, thrill me kiss me kill me"
Stated beautifully.
i'm soooo not a member... wish i were, but i'm too cynical? or something? i think romance is adorable when i hear about it happening to other people, but when it happens to me, i just get kinda... uncomfortable. boo.
Ah, movies in my mind are the best ones! I hear you.
mmmmmmmmmmm
Romance is in the little subtle things a lover does. I too am a lost romantic, or was until I found Andy - he gives me all those little things.
it's just a jump to the left?
ps. in my first marriage i was lonlier than i was single...
I hope I haven't been too warped to miss out.
I'm still a member - just a full-filled one. It really did happen - and is in fact still going on. The scene you described has been happening to me since Sept. 4, 2004, when my very first love came back into my life,34 years later.... with all the romance, cliches, things I haven't even imagined could happen... I'm still pinching myself every day. Lucky, lucky me. Beautiful post Linny.
HEY!!!
some of us ARE bald ... well ... shaven-headed ...
heh
Very sweet actually... and I absolutely love that picture. Well framed scenery like that is gorgeous.

Have a look at that, Linny, if you have the time and the inclination - you might think it as sweet as I did, made me sigh :-)
Autumn...Thanks for the link..I enjoyed it very much. :0)
Well our chapter has the robes and I for one had to shave my head during initiation week.
Wow. Awesome.
Sounds really romantic. :) And, it is VERY easy to fall in love with the moment...wishing there were the same kind of days and nights ahead. :)
Awwww ... sweet post.
