First Kiss

For most people, I think that first kiss is something that's looked forward to with great enthusiasm and anticipation.

I am not most people.

For me, the impending act was more terrifying than the prospect of being caged alongside a lion who'd missed his lunch.

Maybe it wouldn't have been as scary if I had done more in the way of preparation, like practicing on my hand the way I'd seen other girls do. As it was, my only lessons came from watching daily Soap Operas. I'd scrutinize every kissing scene, carefully constructing a mental check list. Okay, you tilt your head like this and close your eyes when he does this...wait, is he supposed to swallow your face like that?

When the big moment came, I was so nervous that I was literally sick to my stomach. We were sitting in the movie theater and I had just applied a coat of cherry flavored chapstick when Brian leaned over and asked if he could borrow a bit of chapstick for himself. Being the innocent girl that I was, I proferred the tube which he promptly ignored as he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine.

My first thought was "It's happening, it's really happening!!!"

My second thoughts were, "Oh god, what am I supposed to do?! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??!!!!"

All that careful note taking had flown right out the window and I was left in a panicked state. "Do I try to match up my bottom lip with his top lip? Oh no, he's pressed up against my nose...I can't breathe, I'm going to die! Wait! What was that? Was that his tongue? Ewwwwww!!! That is absolutely disgusting! Is he even allowed to do that? I am NOT sticking my tongue in his mouth! He can forget that right now."

I am pleased to say that fortunatley, like a fine wine...kissing has greatly improved with age.

Yay!! i'm #1

I knew about mine as my friend overheard my then boyfriend in grade 6 tell his friend that he was going to kiss me on the way home.

We held hands, he walked me to the corner, i was shaking like a leaf as i knew it was coming and then voila....he kissed me. All i remember afterwards is thinking about why i left my retainer in ewe LOL

Oh my god, i remember that feeling- it was the scariest moment of my life. i was the last of my friends to have that "first kiss" too, because i was so scared of messing it up... and i was super shy. i never even played "seven minutes in heaven" at parties because i was pretty sure that i was the only one who didn't know what i was doing. when it finally did happen (in the 9th grade!!!), it was bumpy at first, but smooth sailing afterwards. (or i like to think it was.). But your'e right- practice makes perfect and with age comes wisdom.... and some good lip-locking.

Too funny, Linny.

My first real kiss was when I was at South Padre. I was 14, I think. The guy did something really gross with his tongue. I hated it.

Luckily, not all kisses are like that one! :)

I always dread the first kiss. I think guys are expected to kiss well and that kind of pressure is intolerable. Makes me crazy. The pressure!! The pressure!!

I remember when one of the guys at school kissed me after being dared to by his friends. Unluckily for him I had a cold at the time and he did not know it until after the deed was done! It was a very quick "stolen" kiss so am not sure if that counts, but its funny in retrospect.

My first kiss was in 1st grade. I was 6 years old. My girlfirend was moving away to New Mexico. I was never going to see her again, so on her last day I ran up and kissed her. Unfortunately my momentum carried me into the lockers where I promptly fell down.

Anticipation is what killed me the most. The kiss was nothing! I think it was the guy. :}

You are so right, I try to forget my first kiss in favor of remembering the better ones that came later.

I can picture you screaming inside, "Oh no, I'm going to die!!!" Great imagery!!
I remember on my first mini-date, my "boyfriend" asked me if I wanted an M&M. When I said yes, he popped it in his mouth and looked at me expectantly. I was much like you - "What the hell do I do now???" So funny...

Oh yes it has...my first kiss was so weird. It was during a game of spin the bottle. LOL. Now I'd say kissing is much more fun than it used to be. Probably because it always leads to much more fun.

Oh crap, I just said that didn't I?

Such a cute, fun post!!! Sounds like rather a sweet first kiss, inspite of tongues and sqeezed noses. :-)

Ah yes...I remember those lame days of guys asking for some chapstick, gum, or whatever else you had in or around your mouth.

Times have changed...thank God!

My first kiss was nearly as disastrous. It involved a utility closet and my tonsils. I will spare you the rest.
