Banging My Head Against The Wall

Oh for pete's sake!! What the hell is wrong with me?

I have had no desire to write....*gasp* Oh the horror.

Say it ain't so...

Oh...it's so.

It started on Sunday, the very day I had to write this week's review. I sat down with my notes and...poof...every creative thing in me disappeared straight out of my head. It's like someone poked a hole in me and let all the air out.

It's 3 days later and still, nothing. No desire to write in my journal, no desire to blog (it's painful for me to write this.)

Oh god. Someone has put a voodoo curse on me!!! They got some graveyard dirt and chicken bones and took away my desire to write!!! Damn them and their wickedness. Where's a smudge stick and a priestess when you need one?

Aha! I got the first comment. You do have a desire to write. You just did. Writing about writers block is something!

I know smudging is a Native ritual....not sure if it has to do with a smudge stick though.

it happens to all writers now and then. sometimes the key is to write even if you don't want to write, or can't write, no matter what it is you write.

sometimes the key is to not write.

it's all about you and what feels right to you.

for me ... I'm a slogger ... I write and write and write ... and hope for inspiration from within the mire ... sometimes I switch to a different form/format/type of writing and that jars me loose ...

good luck with it, darlin'

I agree. You have to switch formats from time to time...

...blog, novel, emails. Whatever melts your butter. :)

Hope you get over your writer's block and good luck on your latest piece.

Happy Thursday, Linny me girl.

maybe its that man in your vents...fucking with you. I mean, it would be easy for him to sneak in and get pieces of your hair from your brush and stuff like that while you're at work all day...Or sleeping....and use it for voodoo.

Smudge sticks are commonly used in Native American circles (as well as many other faiths) as a type of spirtual cleanser. Sage smudge sticks are most common I think. They believe that the smoke from the sticks attaches itself to the negative energy around you and as the smoke disappears...it takes the negative vibes with it.

Literally...a smudge stick is a bunch of herbs (IE: sage) bound together and you burn the end when you want to use it.

ay, linny, you dont even need any effort to write something creative or great. That stuff is natural for ya....

But see...this is the thing. I DON'T have writer's block. I've got plenty of things I could write about...I just don't feel like it. At all. :0(

I think maybe you're just burnt out right now. Has work been stressful lately? Just take a little break and the mood will strike again. For good writers like you, it always does!

If you don't feel like it, don't.

Wow, I'm looking out the window this very moment at work, and I see a huge beautiful rainbow against the gray skies - with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, violet.. guess thats all. It is a good sign!

Suck it up and get back to work Linny. If you want to be a writer you write whether you feel like it or not. Do you think the guy who invented aglets wanted to be tying shoes all day? Of course he didn't, but he kept at it and now we have those nice little plastic ends on all our shoelaces. Stop your whining!

Try taking a nice long walk. That usually helps :)

Don't stress about it though, that only makes it worse.

Oooo...that's a psychological delima. I'm betting Friday's green beer will get you right back on track. If not, try thumbing through a thesaurus. Adjectives and Antonyms (sp??) might spark some fun.
Write a limrick for practice.

Good luck. Beat that ol' writer's block right out.
