Bollocks

I was already feeling extremely giddy about my trip to London (only 4 weeks away now). But then, when my passport arrived in the mail Wednesday my excitement level shot off the meter. It's really happening...I'm really going!

I'm still working on trying to develop some sort of itinerary but one of my favorite stops will be getting to meet up with Px. He has promised me a pint...and if we're lucky, a castle. Hmmm, I wonder if he has any cute friends.... Px?

Okay, so maybe I'm a little over eager but I can't help it. Promise not to laugh but I've been watching all the "Harry Potter" films, both "Bridget Jones' " movies and "Love Actually". Snicker all you like but it never hurts to brush up on the British vernacular.

It also happens that most of the books I've read recently are by British authors so those have been fun to read...although, it took me quite awhile to figure out what a 'silk cut' and 'milk tray' were.

Admittedly, I've grown quite fond of many British words, though I'm afraid I like all the wrong ones. Kind of like my men.

I never actually use the words because I would sound like a complete ass, but it is fun to say things like, 'Bugger off,' 'Arse,' 'Wanker,' 'Dodgy,' and 'Bollocks'....even if you are only talking to outloud to yourself.

Lord only knows what the Brits will think of our slight southern drawl.

You are heading to London too? Autumn seems to be having quite a bit of fun there.

I just read an article that says women tend to remember details such as birthdays better than males, but I so don't believe it! Some of my guy friends remember mine, but this particular one never EVER does. So I also "forget" about his too. ;)

Don't forget to watch the Austin Powers flicks! That way you know to get the spanner from the lorry then take the lift to the flat for a good shag!

*snogs*

I'm sure the Brits will find you charming regardless of your drawl or how badly you butcher their dialect. I'm just disappointed you're not visiting NY instead.

LOL. My trip to London does involve a trip to New York. Unfortunately it is in the form of a layover so I don't have time to do much of anything. :o( I've always wanted to go to Manhattan. maybe that will be our trip next year.

Linny - I strongly encourage that idea (the Manhattan one).

You are going to have SO much fun in London. I want to go back. We went during the bloody coldest week of the year, but had a great time anyway.

Where are you staying?

I so want to say Brit things too! Someone called me on it not too long ago, but I just can't help saying things like "bloody brilliant". You need to add prat to your list too :)

Oh my god...are you really going to meet him??? That's awesome!!!

You're like me. I watch movies when i'm getting ready to go somewhere as well, except the movies i end up watching are really unintentional. Before I flew to Fort Lauderdale a couple of years ago, I watched "Alive", and before we flew to Vegas, I went to see United 93...

I dont know why I do that to myself, but it scared the shit out of me.

I think the Brits are amused by our southern drawl. :) Just be prepared to tolerate the ones who aren't. Of course...you won't run into any of those bloody wankers because you're so magnificent. :)

Watch a lot of PBS British Sitcoms until then. LOL

Hugs to you hon. Great to have something so fantastic to look forward to.

Personally, I like to distinguish my cussing from the crowd by exclaiming "Son of Beeeech!" if the situation seems even remotely appropriate.

I had avoided it on other trips and really didn't want to visit it my last time there ... but when in London a few months ago I was persuaded by a very persuasive friend to go up in the London Eye.

And I'm glad I did -- the aerial view on the day we went was fantastic and it gave me a different feel of the city to add to those I've built up just walking around.

Enjoy your bloody trip!
